Course Content

• First Aid Fundamentals: Introduction to First Aid, roles and responsibilities, assessment of the casualty and the scene
• Managing Injuries: Bleeding control, wound cleaning and dressing, dealing with fractures and sprains
• Responding to Medical Emergencies: Recognising and responding to seizures, allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), asthma attacks
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and choking: Adult, child and infant CPR techniques, relieving choking
• Dealing with Burns and Scalds: Different types of burns, first aid treatment and when to seek professional help
• First Aid for Common Childhood Illnesses: Fever management, dealing with head injuries, and common childhood ailments
• Emergency Procedures: Calling emergency services, effective communication and record keeping
• School First Aid Kit: Contents and usage of a school first aid kit, stock management
• Legal and Ethical Considerations: Consent, confidentiality, and legal implications of providing first aid
• Practical First Aid Skills: Hands-on practice of all the above units, including scenario-based learning

Assessment
